ISEE / SSAT Program

Royal Education has recognized the need for strong instruction and supports for students interested in applying and attending private schools for either their middle or high school year. In order to ensure that students have many options to choose from, we have created the ISEE & SSAT Program in order to promote good habits and education practices for students to be ready for the higher rigor that exists. Our tutors not only have the experience teaching the topic, but also have the general knowledge around the school options and rigor that exists in each of the schools.

FORMAT OF THE EXAMS

ISEE: The ISEE is a three-hour admission test for entrance into grades 5th -12th. The type of exam differs dependent on grade level admissions:

  • Lower Level (5th and 6th Grade)

  • Middle Level (7th and 8th Grade)

  • Upper Level (9th - 12th Grade)

The ISEE consists of carefully constructed problems based on verbal and quantitative reasoning in order to measure a student’s capability for learning. Questions will also involve recognizing patterns and sequences. All levels include a timed essay written in response to an assigned topic. The essay is not scored, but a copy is forwarded to the recipient schools along with the Individual Student Report, which shows scaled scores, percentiles, and stanines. Differentiation of difficulty and number of questions exist for each level.

  • Elementary Level (3rd and 4th Grade)

  • Middle Level (5th - 7th Grade)

  • Upper Level (8th - 11th Grade)

The essay is not scored, but a copy is forwarded to the recipient schools along with the Individual Student Report, which shows scaled scores, percentiles, and standing. Differentiation of difficulty and number of questions also exist for each level.

ROYAL EDUCATION - ISEE AND SSAT FAQ’s

Is there a difference between the ISEE AND SSAT?

The first distinction is the number of answer choices. ISEE questions will have choices between (A) through (D) while the SSAT is (A) through (E). That being stated, the types of sections between ISEE and SSAT are also different. The ISEE have Sentence Completion and and Quantitative Reasoning sections, while the SSAT has an Analogy section.

Should I take the ISEE or SSAT?

This is really dependent on what private school(s) you are applying to. Definitely reach out to the schools to see which exam that they take, then focus on the exam that is dominantly accepted in your area.
